Oscar not only managed to find the three families I was looking for !!, but I was also able to photograph them and add 140 species of birds to my Paraguay list - in very adverse weather conditions. For all these reasons I believe that "There are no birds in Paraguay -- that Oscar cannot find".
"There are no birds in Paraguay!!"
Maybe that should be the slogan of Paraguay Birding and Nature tours. In the month of July, I had the privilege of visiting the beautiful and fascinating Republic of Paraguay with the aim of observing three target families of birds (Melanopareiidae, Oxyruncidae and Conopophagidae). I had little more than 4 days, and the target was undoubtedly very ambitious, so I contacted Oscar Rodriguez, an experienced connoisseur of the country and its fauna and flora, especially birds. Shortly after meeting him, I realized that the guy not only knew his country but that his passion and knowledge go beyond the avifauna (which he knows like no one else) and covers other aspects of the fascinating Guarani culture. After four days of birding in the jungles of Mbaracayu National Park, the Cerrado, and the Paraguayan wetlands, Oscar not only managed to find the three families I was looking for !!, but I was also able to photograph them and add 140 species of birds to my Paraguay list - in very adverse weather conditions. For all these reasons I believe that "There are no birds in Paraguay -- that Oscar cannot find".
Thank you, and we will be back for more.
