We took a custom 5 day, 4 night tour (2 people) through the Humid and Dry Chaco with Paraguay Birding Tours, specialized to target the giant anteater and, more generally, endemic mammal and bird species. Overall, me and my wife had a great time throughout the tour; Oscar is an extremely knowledgeable guide and was always attentive and accommodating of our needs and interests, and it was a pleasure learning from him and sharing his passion for nature and for the Chaco region. In spite of an initially foreboding weather forecast promising stormy weather (which in the Chaco is bad, since its clay soil is impermeable and creates a soapy mud), Oscar was able to nimbly navigate around it, and due to equal parts skill, luck and persistence, we were able to see many wonderful animals, including a close and peaceful encounter with a giant anteater, a family of Chaco eagles, a rare strange-tailed tyrant, and a group of Chaco Peccari.

If you are a birder, a nature lover or a nature photographer (I am not the latter,  but Oscar was kind to teach me how to use the lens we rented for the trip), I would recommend Oscar and Paraguay Birding Tours for your next trip.
